The Last Drop “1971” Blended Scotch Whisky
Tasting Notes / Description
The Last Drop “1971” Blended Scotch Whisky is a rare, triple-matured expression blending over 40 malt and grain whiskies, all distilled in 1971. Initially crafted in 1983 as a 12-year-old blend, the remaining spirit was cycled through three maturation phases—first in ex-oloroso sherry butts for nine years, then in American oak for another 24—resulting in a richly complex 45-year-old whisky. Bottled at 46.7% ABV (93.4° proof), it unveils a nose of honeyed vanilla, orange zest, stewed apple, and toasted nuts. The palate balances fruity sweetness and citrus tang with refined oak and smoky undertones reminiscent of classic ’70s-’80s blending. The finish is profoundly long, closing on chocolate orange, baked fruit, and subtle smoke, embodying decades of evolving layer and artistry.
